Re: Do you like drink tea?
hi, I'm Shirley. I like to drink Green tea, but I like Oolung the most. I like to drink them because it can inspire my spirit, but it doesn't hurt our stomach as much as coffee. In winter, drinking a cup of hot tea can warm up our body. Therefore I like them especially in winter.
a joke
There is a joke i want to share to you guys. it really funny.hahaha Bad reception A blonde went to eletronic store and she asked, "How is much is this TV?" The salesman said, "Sorry, we don''t sell to blondes." The next day she came back as a brunette. She asked the salesman how much the TV was. He said, "Sorry, we don''t sell to blondes." The next day she came back as a red head and asked the salesman how much the TV was. He said, "Sorry we don''t sell to blondes." She replied, " I came in here as a brunette and a red head. How do you know I am a blonde?" "Because that is not a TV, it''s a microwave."
Re: Do you like drink tea?
I like to drink green and black tea. I like to taste and smell them when I drink a hot one. But I have a trouble to drink those delicious tea. I can fall asleep if I drink them after an afternoon, but I have no time to drink them in the morning. So I don't have many oppotunities to enjoy such wonderful drinking. I know Matcha, bot I never have a chance to taste it. Some people suggest I must taste it to enjoy the special tea. Maybe I will do it one day.
Re: About the equality between genders.
Hi! I am Daphne. I agree that there are many differences between the gender. I also know distinct that some difference cannot change at all. But my mention is about the unfair treatment. For example, Males consider that females can manager well in high position in a company. Why? Do males think so just because of the natural difference between them. But I still think male just are not convince with the condition women can do job better than them. They deny that women in higher post than them possess better abilities to headle with their professional affairs, and not because they think women have to worry about other things to bother them to concentrate on thier works. Sometimes the reasonable and long accumlation formed the traditional rules. We should understand why and how. But times always change, especially in modern society. We have different missions and tasks have to finish. But some unfair and unequal treatments restrict females to work well. I consider that we should change those unfair concepts to achieve a kind of balance in gender, but not change all the situation between men and women.

Male Chauvinism
Hello, everyone: I'm Christine Yu. I believe some of you may receive the exchange-mailing which talk about the equality between genders. I'd would like to say that I think male chauvinism still existing in the world. Not long age, I wrote a paper about the "Marriage Violence" and I found that the most important reason may cause the marriage violence is the notion of male chauvinism. In the past, wife battering in Taiwan has been regarded as a normal phenomenton that have the privilege of controlling over women. I heard that this phenmenton is really common in Japan, is that true? Christine
Re: About the equality between genders.
I agree with Gill's opinion. I think that male and female can't be equal completely because there is always an estrangement between male and female. I also agree with Sharon and we women should stand up and do something for ourselves.
Re: Do you like drink tea?
I like green tea, too and it's very health for us. I know Matcha. Now I like to drink it very much and I think it's very delicious. However, in the previous time, I don't like it because I drink Matcha that isn't tasty.
Re: Do you like drink tea?
Hi, I am Lynn. I like green tea too. But before having a part time job in drinking shop, I don't like green tea, because I can't fall asleep after drinking green tea. But having a part time job in a drinking shop, I know that to drink green tea can lose diet, so, I drink green tea everyday. To drink green tea is becoming my habite, therefore, I have a good sleep after drinking tea now.
Re: Hello!!!!
I also love children very much. When seeing childred, I become exciting, I don't know why. When I go home, I like to play with my uncle's childred, they are so cute. Winter vacation is coming soon, and I can spend more time to accompany with my parents, because I have a part time job this semaster and I just came home twice during the semaster. So I hope I can spend more time to accompany with my parents in the winter vacation.
Re: About the equality between genders.
It seems a little bit late but I still have to say something about the equality between genders. I also think the stereotypes between genders firmly exist in our society. We can't deny that there are natural conditions and socialized rules in genders. But many people just keep using there natural and socialized limitations to duplicate the stereotypes. Unconsciously, we think there is nothing wrong in these stereotypes. Furthermore, we can't object the differences between genders, but at least we should give more respect to the weaker one. As you mentioned, man and woman are not equal naturally. We should respect the differences and cooprate with each other.
Re: Hello!!!!
hello... I love kids very much. They are really cute but sometimes evil. They always make me exhausted. But I always feel relaxed when playing with them. Our winter break is around the corner because we are in our final exams. Everyone is really busy and tired now. The winter break begins at thirteenth, january. We can relax at that time!! Tera

Re: Hello, Nicole <- TO Emi^^
Hi, Emi! So nice to receive your reply^^ How was your last day of 2003? Here we had so many parties to enjoy. But I was eating hot pot with my friends. Well, if I could, I would go visiting the place you mentioned in Japan because Japan is a complete "stranger" for me. I've never been there, I've never made Japanese friends before, so you let me learn so much about Japan! One of the teachter in our school is from England, I took hs class when I was a freshman. He sometimes talks about his country. I think it's very beautiful, if I have the ability of learning in graduate school and the finance, I would love to study in England! How long does your vacation last? We are now in the final-term exam, everyone is busy studying! Haha, and after next Tuesday, we will be free to enjoy our winter vacation and Chinese New Year! Could you give me your personal email address again? Sorry about that I don't know where did it go^^" I think after this semester, we can keep in touch by email... I will tell you more and something about our Chinese New Year. God, I'm so exciting about the Chinese New Year's coming! See you! Hope to hear from you soon^^ by Nicole
Re: Do you like drink tea?
Hi, ~{, I admire your opinon. I like drink ? very much. Many people don't like it but ? has many levels. A really good ? is as excellent as other tea. In addition, ? has many adventages, especially for delet oil after diet and its material doesn't hurt the stomach and it can lower the fire in our body. How about you?
I like tea as well
As mentioned by Orchid before, Japan is famous for its green tea and all I know only green tea also. After retrieving the imformation of folk tea introduced by Orchid, it really catches my eyes and desire to taste this kind of tea. In Taiwan, the most famous tea is Oolong Tea and no one will deny this premium and healthful beverage. The elder prefer to brew a pot of tea in the yard rather than watch TV at home. It's reported that the more tea we drink, the more healthy we are, and that's true. No wonder Japanese are ranked the most long-lived group in the world. Thanks for such awesome information.
Gender equalty opinions from Charles
Gender equality is a quite common phenomenon. Females are not the disadvantaged minority any more. Take the situation in Taiwan for example, in politics, our Vice-President is a female; in entertainment, there are lots of females as hostesses to take charge of a program independently; in occupations, there are more jobs designated only females. Quite a few rich and competent women have pretty high social statuses in Taiwan. In the former times, the positions of females were low and they had very unlucky fortunes. The result was to be a farmer, a slave, even a prostitute. I saw lots of movies about females' statuses in the 40's and 50's, and the lives were toilsome. Those conditions happened not only in Taiwan. I noticed all over the world all have these precedents. Although I am a boy, I also feel unfair to women, right? Everyone has the right to choose their lives, not be controlled by the higher social statuses. Fortunately, the tough situation for females is alleviating and even disappearing. I think as long as every one can live in modesty and confidence, he or she can be respected. Racial discrimination is a selfish and barbarian concept. This should no longer exist. I would like to share this opinion with all of you. Respect other people and all will come back to you.
Re: About the equality between genders.
About the equality between genders... I think the unequal between genders is natural. World is interesting because difference. Men are promoted faster, but Women can ask for leave one day per month by period. I think completely equality between genders is impossible. Amber
Re: Do you like drink tea?
Tea in China culture is not just a cup of good cheer, but a way of life. I like to drink tea. The Wistaria Teahouse is a good place to drink tea. It is located at No. 1, Lane 16, XinSheng South Road, Sec. 3(ksVHOi16J1j1). On the menu are the island's best-Oolong, Iron Goddess, Wenshan Baozhong, Dongding, Oriental Beauty... Price per item run from NT$180 to $300. Price is a little expensive. However, you can bring a good book, and enjoy a peaceful afternoon.
My opinion about equality......
When we're talking about the equality between genders. It makes me think of the movie "Monalisa Smile" Have you ever seen this movie? It is talking about how a teacher affects her students not only think of marriage after graduated, but also plan their own life. I think this is a really good movie for everyone. Everyone was born in equality. Even though men or women. We all can choose the way we want to live. The most important thing is that we must valued ourselves first, others might valued you.
Re: About the equality between genders.
Dear Daphne: I am Evelyn. I agree your ideas. Much importance, I consider that the worth of life is the most important than others. Although the equality of male and female in traditional society is filled with unfair, they often have a common family. However, our society has been having some differences such male begins to cook, does housework, takes care of children, and so on. On the other hand, females start to work outside and make money to support her family. We can think what happens in our society. They always cooperate to support their home and protect their home. Do you agree me?

Re: Dear Daphne About nuclear power
Dear Nami Yamasaki: Hello! Happy new year. I heard about that you are in winter vacation, right? I am so surprised and glad to receive your letter. I agree with your opinion. We should pay more attention to invent other electricity. I think the solar power is a wonderful one just like you said. But it's equipments are also expensive, and this kind of power still have disadvantage in sun and the locations. But I consider that is more stronger, easier and more convenient power to use. I hpoe scientists can try hard to creat another mystery for our electricity. And I also think we should concern about teaching people how to save electricity and why it is neccesary. What about your opinion? Wish a happy vacation. Sincerely, Daphne Zhung
Re: About the equality between genders.
Hi! I am Daphne. I agree with your ideas. But I think that the equal between males and females are difficult to come because of female's features. Females can observe every details that male can not think about, so they can do better than males. Everyone can deny that. But I think that also because females' sentibility let us not to ignore everything. It make us become more sensitive. But males can not see other details, so they can seccess easier because nothing can bother them. That is their disadvantage, and also is only their advantage. I agree with unfair position that males and females are in. But not only traditional moral, but native gender features obstruct us from equal position in the society. I really hope that one day all females can have fair treatment in the world. And what is about your opinion? Sincerely, Daphne Chung
Re: About the equality between genders.
Hi! Everyone: I am Gill. I think that male and female cannot be equal completely. Even in some situations, the positions between male and female look equal. I think it could be a outside equality. For instance, in a company, could men submit to the female boss entirely? So, I agree the opinion of Sharon. We need to stand up and do it.
Re: About the equality between genders.
Hello friends, As a common concept, when people talk about "male chauvinism", they would think about Japan and Korea. Just like a habit we see on TV, the wife follewed the husband to the door when he goes to work, and said" Come home earlier!" and then the wife went back to the kitchen. Maybe this just happened in the soap opera, but i'm wondering that if it is really close to the daily life in Japan? However, if the "work hard" theory works? Although some women give it very definite answers(including me), I still think that women should be first independent in economics and thoughts. If we are still thinking about the possibility, why don't we just stand up and do it? Share with you.. Sharon
Re: About the equality between genders.
Hi, friends, Does anyone know that in Canada in 1916 only one province allowed women to vote? As some fo you may know that Canada has a mixed up history, so do Taiwan, China, even many other Asian countries. This is just like hundred years ago, women were not allowed to participate in politics, receive education, but stay at home waiting for someone who marry her, and then just live her life in this way that was not fair, no freedom, no respects.... In Japan, as far as I know, they are "father society" and there are many unfair treatment for women, which we can easily see in some movies or TV programs. For example, the TV program "M". What a hard, tough, and painful life she has!! As leah mentioned, ni the bible, it says that woman is created form one of Adam's bones. That is, women are subordinated to men! However, it seems that no matter in which countries, there is no fairness between women and men, especially in the past decades and centuries history, traditions of almost every culture have the unequal problems of genders. People would say working hard could change this situation, but does that really works? Think about it!!! Good Night by Nicole
Re: About the equality between genders.
I agree with your opinion. If females can study hard and work hard, they can gain what they want in all aspects. I also believe the period of females will coming soon, because females can observe details of everything and they have the ability to overcome all difficulties they suffer. Lynn
Re: About the equality between genders.
Hey I like your Adam and Eve idea. I think we are influenced by the literature too much, it remains me of the "Paradise Lost"! our age will definitely come one day!
Re: About the equality between genders.
Hi, everyone, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I agree with both Cerbrina and Allen's point of views! Anyway, this unfair situation of genders has been improved in only some cases, but however, it is not difficult to image that there are still many reasons that leads to the situation. Recalling back to the society ten or twenty years ago, we can see that the status of females has improved so much inspite of there're still many unfair treatment to females. I think this is a interchanging period. In the future, it would be a truly equal relationship between genders, especially in Taiwan! However, each country has different situation, maybe someone who knows that could share with us! by Nicole
Re: About the equality between genders.
According to the Bible, Adam and Eve ate forbidden fruit and were punished by God. They had to leave paradise, Adam had to work very hard until he died and Eve had to suffer the pain of pregnancy. So, what man and woman should do is distinguished on that time probably; woman can't deny nature disability (we can't be stronger than man), the only thing we can do is study hard and work hard to prove we have our own power to overcome everything. One day, the period of woman will come, because we are more sensitive, cautious, tender and wise than man!!! I believe!!! Leah
Re: To Shirley
Dear Kiyo, Happy New Year! i can't ride a motorcycle, nor i don't have a license. you say that your parents don't allow you to ride a motorcycle, but, how do you get to your school usually, by bus? or drive a car? "MRT" is "Taipei Rapid Transit." lots of people who live in Taipei will take MRT to work or to school. therefore , in the rush hour, it's always crowded. i think it's a little like " subway " . if we take the MRT, we can easy control our time because it is more quickly than taking a bus or driving a car. if i have an appointment, i'll take the MRT, it can save my time to wait for a bus, stop for the traffic light. hoping that you will have a happy new year's eve? sincerely, Shirley
Re: About the equality between genders.
Actually you are the only guy that response to our topic, and that's great to have a different gender to talk about it, but too bad that you have to stand out and to "fight" with usKhaha I agree with Jessica, age is such a big problem for us, right? If we are successful in the working environment, guys will think we are too ambitious, while guys will be considered as a great man. Talking about the military service, there are also some girls who want to join the military as well. It is a little bit unfair that joining the army is obligation, and there are so many guys in Taiwan trying to escape their duty. Some gays think spending two years in the army is just a wasting of time, while some guys are so afraid of their girlfriend will run away with other. That is indeed a big problem. Hey, but female also have to carry the babeKyou can never understand those troublesome and miserable thing that we are going to suffer. But pregnant is our duty. So it will be like we have different duty. by the way, wish you a happy new year!
Re: About the equality between genders.
You both are right, but my point is the unfair stiuation of sexual equality between genders has been improved much and is being going on. If you go to check up an unemployed rate of males and females of graduated university students, you will find out males' rate is higher than females. This is a result of males always are tested by a high criterion and we have to go to be military men first. If we see this problem by these angles. Can we also say we are unfair? Anyway, no matter Taiwanese or Japanese, wish you all have a great beginning of 2004 !
Re: About the equality between genders.
I agree with Cerbrina's opinion. Although many women in Taiwan are excellent, but there are still many traditional idea oppress them. For example , Lu Hsiu-lien, you mentioned, the Vice President of Taiwan, was always been argued that she doesn't get married. A single man over 30 years old would be considered as charming, but a single woman over 30 is always regarded as a spinster. It's still unfair, isn't it?
Re: About the equality between genders.
I like your idea because I am female, but I have to say that you are too optimistic about the equality of genders. Those women are rare cases in Taiwan. I am very happy to see those successful examples of the equality, but it is very obvious that the majority of the high positions are held by men.
What is your New Year's countdown plan?
It's time of year again! This year Taipei 101 Building is completion and Taipei 101 is one of the world's tallest buildings. This New Year's countdown, Taipei citizens will gather beneath the magnificent new Taipei 101 Building for the countdown to the year 2004. I really expect for countdown this night. The Taipei 101 building will be the site of the world's largest Year 2004 Countdown Clock, and in the final seconds before the beginning of the new year, the whole city of Taipei will join together shouting "5, 4, 3, 2, 1 ... " And I can watch Japan countdown celebration in TV. What is your New Year's countdown plan?
Re: About the equality between genders.
I think sexual equality between genders has no big problems in most of places in Taiwan. From my observation, many women have emerged from a lot occupations, such as Nita IN, the Chairman of Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation, and Lu Hsiu-lien, the Vice President of Taiwan. They both are excellent women getting achievements and positions. In some companies, the numbers of female staffers has overtaken males. Males should be more conscious of this situation; moreover, the Sexual Equality Law has been carried out for a period of time here. In fact, what I'm worried is males will parade and yell "We want sexual equality between genders !" in the future.
Re: Do you like drink tea?
Hello! Evelyn. I am Daphne. Our foreigner friends are in the winter vacation. May be their exchanging system can not work for us. I like to drink tea, too. When I was younger, I think tea is a very poor drink, and why there is so much people like to drink it. Know I know because of its wonderful smell and taste. But Good tea is so expensive, and there are so many tools to prepare for athe process of drinking tea. But I think it can be a good hobby to taste sometimes. Hpoe you enjoy it, sincerely Daphne
Do you like drink tea?
Hi, everyone, I am Evelyn. How about your holidays? On the weekend, we went climbing with my dear friends and enjoy hot and good tea. How wonderful it is! Do you like drinking tea? In Japan, you have good and historical tea lessons and do you have any good experience about it? In Taiwan, many people like tea and taste slowing. Expect everyone to enjoy your experiences! Sincerely,
About the equality between genders.
Hi, everyone, I'm Nicole. I've received so many from you for the opinion about this new topic. In the past ten years, the sexual equality has been improved so much, no matter in aspects of works, family, education, society... I think this is because the women rights have been improved for those years, as we can see the announcement and education advertisement in TV, or some other associations. Decades ago, women were not allowed to receive education in Chinese, even in many other countries. But now, women not only receive education, but also higher education. In this modern society, we can see the phenomenon that female even has the ability to be a chief or leader in an organization, company, enterprise, even president in a country! I think it's good to see that male and female have learned to respect each other more and more. By the way, I think there must be something different for each country with different historic background, social structures, even though Japan and Taiwan are the places where Asians live. I would be glad to talk about more next timel And....if someone has thoughts about this topic, please feel free to reply^^ Good Evening by Nicole
Re: To, Emi
Hi, Emi, So nice to receive your reply! I was busy doing my paper in some class for the past week. So, I'm now writting to you^^" You said you like Astria best, right? Wow, I believe you must like music very much! Do you play some instrument? Piano..or...? Aactually, I am a music idiot`.`" I'd learned playing piano before, but something wrong, maybe it's just that I don't have the talent. If someday I have the chance to go visiting Europe, I would like to go England first! The reason is very simple for me, as an English majoy, also I am very interested in the genuine English culture and traditions. However, I would plan a trip to Europe for about two weeks, and not only one country. I heard that if you want to go Europe, you can visit more than one or two countries, more places you go would make your trip more calculated and coloful. Because the cost to Europe is always expensive! Travelling by yourself is the best choice because you can plan by yourself and do some deeper explornography. But for the first time you visit a place where you've never been to before, you should have a guide or just follow a travelling package. So, how's your vacation? What do you usually do during a long holidays? Hope to hear from you soon^^ Good Evening^^ by Nicole
Sorry...I sent the wrong letter..
Dear all.. I just sent a wrong forward letter which is not related to our topic. you can skip that..I'm really sorry for that >_< Sharon

Re: equality between male and female
I also agree your opinions. Male and Female really have many difference no matter they are physical or mental. It is hard to change their concepts in our society. This problem may be not only exist in our country, but also bother other females in other countries. I think that we should speak out loudly to the world, and let them know female are stronge like male, even stronger than male sometimes. We should try to pursue our right in the family first. I ever heard a reporter said that mothers always teach their children in a family, and father won't do it. If a trouble happened, father will blame mother not teach their kids well. It is very unfair. In my opinion, female should stand out and protect themselves away unfair treatment.
Re: Maleand Female
Hello! My friends. I am Daphne. I totally agree your opinion about male and female. I think the reason why female cannot make several boyfriendsan the same time just is a sterotype idea. Because every body will think that lovers will make love with each other, and if female have many lovers, it would mean that she make love with many different people. And our traditional concept can not accept this kind of the behavior. You can deny there are many differences between male and female. May be those bias opinions are jut want to protect our females? I don't know that is true or not. It is just my opinion. But I really don't like male discriminate oue female. What is your opinion, My dear friends?
Re: Maleand Female
Dear Betty, how about what you can improve or what you want to show in your family?
Re: equality between male and female
Dear all my friends, in my opion, the equality between male and female is difficult to seperate from clearly. The reason I have the idea is that man and woman have many differences such power, heigh, and so forth. I think we should achieve the goal according the situation what we need whether the duty belongs male or female.
Re: To Lynn
Thank you for your reply. 20020e013@n-junshin.ac.jp I am so sorry to write the letter until now, because I have several homework to do and the final exam is coming soon. I agree with you. Because when I was a senior high school student, I went to schoo and went home by bus, and it was so crowded that I couldn't have a seat. But, it was a good experience because I could communicate with my classmates and friends at that time, we talked about our hobbies, movies, boyfrieds and girlfriends, and so on. So I miss that moment very much. Now I live with my friends, and our home is near our school, it just take me five minites to school. So I don't take any transportation to school, and I think I am very bliss. Hope you can have your own car as soon as possible. On Christmas, I have to go to school and write my assignments, so I don't have any plan on the day.And I think you must have a happy Christmas. Right? Good luck to you, from Lynn
Re: equality between male and female
I am Lynn. In my opinion, boyfriend and girlfriend can go Dutch when paying the bill. But if they don't care who pays the bill it doesn't a matter. Because when my boyfriend and I go to eat meal we don't care who pays the bill, if he has money, he pays, if I have enough money, I pay. So we don't care about who pays the bill. Therefore, I think male and female can equal in the situation. It just my opinio.
Re: equality between male and female
I am Lynn. I agree with you. Because in my family just females have to do the housework and males like my father and brother needn't to do . After work, my mother has to prepare meal, to clean out our house, to wash clothes and so on. And my father just needs to watch TV, play cards with his friends, or sleep, he won't do anything. It's unfair between male and female. I think the traditional females'view is they think to do housework is their duty and they never try to ask male to do so.
Re: Maleand Female
Dear Betty: I am Lynn. I agree with your opinion. Male and female never have equal position no matter now or in the future. People have different view of male and female. For example, if a male has several girlfriends in the same time, and people will consider he is attactive, but if a female make several boyfriends in the same time, people will think she is skittish. I don't know why. I think if a female can protect herself and can refuse to be contaminated by evil influence, why she can't make several boyfriends in the same time as male. What's your opinion? Do you agree with me?
Maleand Female
I am so glad to discuss the title "Male and Female." I agree with your opinions. Male and female never have equal position in the society. People can't deny that male earn more respectful than female. Male can post higher position than female in the company. Male take cigarettes in the public but nobody feels strange. However, female perform the same behavior and they attract others' views. It is a tradition. Female play a soft but serious role because of the traditional custom in the long time.
Re: equality between male and female
hey...I totally agree on that we can't deny there are some natural characters own by male and female, so we can never be equal. Even though the society exist a unfair condition, if we , as a woman, look at a different angle, because of the natural differences, sometimes we can take advantage of them. Just like we can make up to make us look prettier. Well, I don't think men who cry are too sensitive, if they don't cry too often, it is very normal if they cry. And if they wear PRADA properly, they can be very in style and handsome. how about the situation in Japan?
Re: Hello, everyone!
Dear Nami Yamasaki: I agree with your opinion, but it is too hard and difficult to research other power to use because others are so weak to prove enough electricity in our daily life. And nuclear power will make lots of chemistrical garbage that can not deal with. That is not a good way to make the power for human beings, so experts suggest the government to discover another engery to use. May be one day we will success to invent a new power for own good safely. And what is your opinoin? Sincerely, Daphne
opinion about male and female....Bea Haung
Hi, everyone: I am Bea from Taiwan. I am glad to join this discussion about "male and female". In my opinion, it is very difficult to reach the totally equal situation between male and female since these two sides were born different in not only physically but also mentally. Besides, I think, sometimes or in some aspects, men/boys are superior to women/girls while most of time men /boys also need women/ girls' assistance. That is, this society requires male and female co-existence to complete our life. Moreover, the concept of "respect for each other" should be built when being child. If every boy and every girl could be taught how to show the proper esteem for girls or boys, they will have spontaneous respect for the other side and be happier when getting along with each other in the future. And at that time, it is unnecessary to argue on antifeminism or fight for it. That is my opinion. Bea
Re: equality between male and female
I am Jessica. I agree with Cerbrina that man and woman may never be equal. Besides natural physical difference, the traditional idea is the main reason that makes man and woman unequal. There are more and more women who have their own job earning money but they still have to do the housework after work and the traditional idea regards it as their duty. I think that housework is every family member's obligation not only woman's. Think about a phenomenon in Taiwan traditional family, I think it's very ridiculous. Daughter has no right to inherit family's property and only son has the right, even mother agree with it. In my opinion, from ancient to modern times women themselves lower their status as man's adjunct, so woman's status is never as equal as man's.
Re: equality between male and female
Hi, everyone: I'm Leah. As talking about the equality between male and female, I have some different ideas. Although female nowadays fight for their right in a company or socail attitude continually, we can't deny there are some natural characters which owned by oppositive sexual and I think those are the main reason why male and female can never be equal. More and more woman think their husband should share responsibility for housework but there are few woman feel they should also go to the army! We ask man to be strong and if they cry, we say they are too sensitive! We think it's absolutely right that woman persuing fashion stuffs but when a man wears "PRADA", we say he is gay! I think there is a limited standared in our heart, because we are shaped by these social identities. To break this frame, we should think widely and change ourselves attitude when we look through the gap between female and male. Female and male have their own value in different fields, man should learn how to repect woman because we are all human beings. Everyone should judge others by their personality but not their sexuality.
Re: equality between male and female
Hi ~~ everyone: I'm Queena Yu (or Ursula Yu) from Taiwan and I'd like to join the discussion of Cerbrina's proposal. Actually, I'm always convinced that men and women never come to share an equal situation or position in society; because since the physical and mental conditions of men and women are totally different and distinct, there must be no possibility for an absolutely equality from the starting mark. Nevertheless, it's 21 centry now and to accomplish the most essencial and reasonable equality between men and women has become a pricipal topic for all human in the whole world. Therefore, the attitude of acceptation or identification for this equality for both two genders are more important than any other things. For the example Cerbrina mentioned in her mail, the point is not who should do the housework; the point is no one have the obligation to do those housework. If the traditional concept like her father has hold never gone, then there is no chance for an advanced improvement for the equality between men and women.
hi, Yuu,
Dear Yuu, I am Joan. How is everything going today? Thanks for your reply. I am also glad to make friends with you. I saw the movie"the lord of the rings" yesterday with my classmates. What a wonderful movie! I really love it. You say that you are going to England. That sounds interesting! You must be very excited, right? I have never been to foreign countries. If I have a chance to go to a foreign country, I would like to go to Japan. I am interested in Japan culture.I can speak a little Japanese because I am learning Japanese now. Which scenery do you like most in Japan? Your sincerely, Joan
Re: equality between male and female
Dear all my friends this is Cerbrina from Taiwan~It has been a great opportunity to exchange and share thoughts overseas. Since this project has to focus on one particular topic, I would like to start one. This is about the equality between male and female. Do you agree or disagree that man and woman are equal in the society we live in? Being a woman now (well I should say I am still a girl sometimes), I found man and woman may never be equal. Like my father, he always tells me that I should learn how to do the housework, or I should learn how to cook for my future family. He thinks girl should always do the housework, isn't it unfair? Why should woman handle all the errands? In my opinion, the family should share the houseworks, right? How about when boyfriend and girlfriend go out, who should pay the bill? What do you think about it? Looking forward your opinions. I hope it wouldn't be too serious!!
Re: Hello, everyone!
Hi, Nami, I'm Shirley, it is right and essential to have a safety life, but i think nowadays, in the technique society, power is essential, too. Not only for businessman, but the general public need it. Try to think it, in summer, lots of us use the airconditioners which will consume lots of electricity, if we don't have nuclear power. If we want other power generation instead of nuclear power, i will agree with it, However, firstly, we have think that wheter the place that we live is suitable for other power generation. For example, in Taiwan, if we want to use hydroeletricity instead of nuclear power, it will be not suitable. because it is seldom raining in winter therefore there is no water to use. secondly, if we can use hydroeletricity, it must have to establish in the mountains, When we transfer electricity to the city to use, it must be haemorrhaged in the process. I think perhaps nuclear power is the most suitable for us, how do think about? sincerely, Shirley
Re: To Kiyo
hi, Kiyo, I'm Shieley, hearing that you have a driver's license, i'm so appreciate with you. Because i can't drive a car even though ride a motocycle, it's really inconvenience to go anywhere. I can imagine that if you are tired, but you still can't take a seat, it's so painful, because i usually by bus or MRT. Are there lots of people ride a motorcycle? because either the MRT is crowded or there are lots of motorcycle on the street in Taipei. Therefore, i wonder that are there lots of people can ride motorcycles? sincerely, Shirley
To Seiko Yamaguchi...^^
Dear Seiko Yamaguchi: Hi! Seiko Yamaguchi. I'm fine. Today the weather is getting warmer in Taipei. Yesterday, December 22th is Chinese traditional holiday called the winter solstice. My friends and I eat stuffed dumplings together; it means we grow up and add one age. Wow! My God! I am getting older.21+1=??...-___-" I will have winter vacation after three weeks. When do you have your winter vacation? By the way, Christmas is almost coming, and how do you plan your Christmas Eve? I look forward to its coming. See you!! Sincerely yours, Monica
Re: Hi, Selena!!
Dear Seiko Yamaguchi, :) How are you today? Ha, I love "Taxi" to death~~ XD, because it's very interesting and incredible! I seldom go to movie theaters, I like to rent films and see them at home. Sometimes when some movies show much beautiful European scenery, I dream I can go to visit Europe one day. How about you? Have you every been to Europe or other foreign countries? If you have, which country impress you most? Looking forward to your reply! ^^ Sincerely, Selena
Re: Hi Selena,
Dear Yuu, :) I'm so happy to exchange mails with you, too.^^ I've never seen "Finding Nemo," either, but I often saw its promotion and thought it would be interesting! Could you tell me what the movie is about? Thank you very much!^^ Gee! It will be a nice experience for your being to Cambridge University, won't it? But will it cost you much and do you know how much it will cost you to get and stay there for one month? I like France and Spain but don't have any play at present because I hope I can learn France and Spain before I go visiting there. Do you know the cheapest way to travel in Europe? Good day^^ Selena :P
Re: Hello, everyone!~To Nami Yamasaki ^^
Hi, Nami Yamasaki :) How are you today? I'm not fine because I didn't bring enough money to school. Therefore I'm hungry all day....painful~ XD... Well..., in my opinion, I support the development of nuclear power. You're right that nuclear power is very dangerous. However, I think nowadays technological techniques get improved much, and such accident can hardly happen. Do you agree with me? As for alternative energy sources, solar energy is the safest one. Wind power is not steady because of the wind has intermission. Not all rivers can be used for hydropower. If we want to use geothermal energy, I think the development of technology isn't advanced enough because using this kind of energy need to dig deeply into the earth's core. What are your opinions about these points I say? People in Taiwan have quarrelled for a long time about building forth nuclear plant. People are afraid of the danger around the nuclear plant. Do you know the event in Taiwan or there is any similar event in Japan? Looking forward to your reply soon. :D Good day!! Selena
Re: Nice to meet you
| Hi, Kiyo sanaka, :) How are you? I'm Selena, a junior of English Department in Shih Hsin University. The climate in Taiwan is changeable, and sometimes it's very hot in fall,~~strange, uh? These days it was so cold here that I was late for school every day!!....^^|||.... My mother always blames me for my being late, and she calls me "BAD STUDENT"......haha, maybe it serves me right. I like Japanese singers and TV programs more than movies, such as Namie Amuro, V6, etc. I also like travelling, and how about you? I hope to hear from you soon! Good day :) Selena |
Hello to Akina Honda :)

Re: Nice to meet you!...To...Akina
Hi, Akina, My name is Nicole, a junior in Shih Hsin University. You like travelling, right? I am very curious about your experiences in travelling. I have been to Canada, that beautiful country impressed me very very much! Especially in the winter, you will see a white world! Have you ever come to Taiwan? Well, I think I will take a trip in some foreign countries someday in the future only by myself, not with a travel agancy, because I think that would be very adventurous! Our teachter has given us a new topic to talk about, that is about a plan to go have a trip in Europe! Though I have never been to any Europe country, I am very interested in travelling there...How about you? I hope I can talk to you more next time and I hope to hear from you very soon! ^^Good Night^^ by Nicole
Re: Nice to meet you
Hello, Kiyo. My name is Jessica. I belong to English Department of Shin Hsin University in Taipei. Tapei is very cold recently, it's about 10 degree around this week. Althogh it never snows in Taipei, it rains. The rain makes Taipei cold and humid, so it's makes me very uncomfortable. Because my hometown is in the southern Taiwan, which belongs to subtropical zone, I can't not get with such kind of climate, although I have lived here for 4 years. I like movie, too. I have seen some Japanese movie, such as "Ring." The ghost movies are very popular in Taiwan, like . I have seen . It's so scaring, but I don't understand the story very much. Another Japanese movie called "Dragon Head" (hSwbh) will be on screen soon. I know that this movie is adapted based on a comic work, but I haven't read it before. However, my friend told me some story about the comic work, the story interests me, maybe I will go to watch movie. I don't know "John Q, " which you mentioned last time. What kind of movie is it? What kind of movie do you like?
Re: Nice to meet you!!to...Seiko Yamaguchi
Hi,Seiko, M name is Nicole, a junior in Shih Hsin University. Are you always driving your car to school? Wow, that's so cool! In Taiwan, it's very hard to find a parking space here, especially in Taipei City, so most of us students are taking the mass transportation or riding the motocycles! But as I have rent a house near our school, I always go to school by feet. On my work time, a part-time job..I would ride my motobike... So, what's your interests? Do you like travelling? Have you ever come to Taiwan? Well, I think I will take a trip in some foreign countries someday in the future! Our teachter has given us a new topic to yalk about, that is about a plan to go have a trip in Europe! Though I have never been to any Europe country, I am very interested in travelling there...How about you? I hope I can talk to you more next time and I hope to hear from you very soon! ^^Good Night^^ by Nicole
Re: Hi, Emi~
Hi, Emi,. Well...I love Harry Potter best I think....Have you read the book? That's very good! I would recommand you read the book, and see the movies, you will find many interesting! Have you seen any Chinese movies before? There are not so many movies producted in Taiwan, but almost from Hong Kong. I think the reason is that most movies are art movies. It seems that almost only commercial movies could survive now...Actually, there are some very good and meaning ful movies in Chinese! I will recommand you the most famous one first," The Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon." Have you ever been to Europe? Well, I think this will be our new topic to talk about. However, I still love movies! I have never been to Europe, but someday I believe I will! Which part of Europe you would like to go best? I think I would like to go the western part in Europe first. Though I have no any experience being there, my mother, she's been there before, told me that the best way to visit Europe is to travel by yourself, not go with travel agency! The adventage is that we can save much more money and have our own way to visit places where we like! Also, in my opinion, such way is much more adventurous! But the disadventage is that we might get lost easily because we are strangers in a foreigh country. However, if we have a well-prepared plan before our trip, that will be a very jotful trip! I will talk about more. How do you think!?^^And...what will you do if you are going to Europe? Good Night^^ by Nicole

Hello Yuu~ It's Mavis! I'm currently a senior English major student in SHU. I love watching movies as well and can almost accept any kind of movie. What's your favorite one? Since I don't have any particular favorite movie, let me tell you some which impressed me a lot. Like Edward Scissorhands, 1900, Bring it on, Kill Bill, Matrix 1 and so on... Feel free to email me! ;D
Hi~~Seiko Yamaguchi
Dear Seiko Yamaguchi: I am so excited to receive your mail. How about you today? I also love the movie-"THE MASK". Although I have seen it several times, I still feel it's interesting. I don't hear of the movie of THE LAST SAMURAI, but I think it will show on January. For your introducing, it attracts my curiosity and I will see the movie on winter vacation. Wow! I expect it!! Would you tell me more about the movie which you know? It is cold today. In the morning, it is up to 21 degrees; however, in the evening, the temperature is 14 degrees. I can't endure such a cold day. I think if the weather temperature in Taipei is 10 degrees, it may be the lowest temperature. How about the lowest temperature in Nagasaki? How do you plan your weekend? On Friday evening, my friend will come to my home and see the movie-"The Grudge". Hope you have a nice weekend. Sincerely yours, Monica^^

Wow !! It sounds fun to do the investigating about Dietary Culture. In my opinion, Japanese food is more delicate than many other foods, such as Chinese food or American fast food. Though, American fast food always can attract one's smelling. But it couldn't make people love it for very long time. Because that kind of food is too oily. Now in Taiwan, there are more and more restaurant offer Tea Time for their customer. Many of them even brag about "Japanese diet".It becomes a kind of general like in Taiwan now.

Dear friends: My name is Daphne. Ilike to see the movies, especially action movies because I think that You can enjoy the fantsic fighting. But there still are other kind of movies to watch. You said you saw the GREEN MILE. I like this movie very much. I think it discussed about a magic power that God gave. Now, I want to recommand another movie was directed by the same director. It named " THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION." This movie touched my heart because the main actor never give to proof that he isn't guity. It also talked about the prison's lives in a jail. It is an old movie and good to appreciate. May be you can lend it from vedio store. Hope you enjoy this movie Your freind, Daphne |

Re: About Movie: From Natsuko Mura
Hi, Natsuko Mura, I have seen "Frequency" before, it's kind of a science fiction if I remember. It's adapt from novel. It's amazing that it has such a space and time setting. As to the "Green Mile", anyone who has seen this would says it's very good. But it's really a little bit too long.^^" Hmm, Do you know the movie called Philadelphia played by Tom Hanks and ...Washington.I forget Washington's first name la^^. Anyway, he is a very good black actor. This movie is about the tough process of an aids patient and his lawyer who fight for the rights of gays and aids patient. However, a movie very worthy thinking of, which is full of many meanings. "U've got mail" is played by Meg Ryan, right? I like her very much. Do you know " Sleepless in Seattle"? Also played by her, it seems that her movies are most kind of comedy. I remember that one of our teachter has played this movie for us in the conversation class when I was a freshman. I will tell you more what I know about movie next time. By the way, have you seen the "Lord of the Rings"? Very good movie which adapted from Tolkien. Ha...very fantastic! The third one:"Return of the King" is coming this month, I think I will go to see it! See you ...bye^^ Good Day by Nicole

I think most of these courses are quite interesting and they benefit me a lot! So, where are you live? I've never been to Japan and I don't Japan very well. You know?! There are a lot of traditional customs that are very delicate, such as some important festivals. Also, I think that some of these traditions of Chinese and Japan are a little similar though I don't know very clearly. Could you tell me more about your culture and customs? It would be great to exchange our view from each other.^^ Good Day by Nicole |

In Taiwan, sums of college students love to play basketball after school even play hooky together. Besides sport, I got a part-time job in so-called cram school in Taiwan. It is an English learning organization and suits for kids, where I've learned useful skills in teaching children. Actually, I like Japan this country because of its culture which is always worthy to learn and people's responsibility and perseverance. I hope I will take a trip in each county in Japan. Sincerely yours Danny Chen |

That's is why I still live in the city instead of living in the mountains. At last, hoping that everyone is happy everyday! Sincerely, Shirley |

Hello, Professor Chizuko Suzuki! .. From Shih Hisn University
Dear Professor Chizuko Suzuki : How do yuo do? I'm Bea from Shih Hsin University in Taiwan . I'm very glad to get this opportunity to have e-mail exchange with those from different countrys because this is a new experience to me. I've never been to your country while I just received a mail about Japan few days ago. It is photography place map and introduces the night views of major spots in Japan such as Hiroshima, Kyoto, Tokushima, Sarakura- yama , and so forth. Each picture of them shows me the expectacular sight and it is amazing-- I've heard that Japan is a prosperous country while I never imagine how it would be. The submontane neon or various kinds of lights has filled of the picture and it expresses that how big and how booming the place is. -- That is Japan. It makes me supurised and then I think it's worth to visit this country someday. Welcome to Taiwan and I am expecting that I can receive your reply soon. Wish you have a good day. Your Sincerely, Bea Huang

I'm a little bit exicted about this email-exchanging activity, how about you? :) I'm interested in two cartoon characters: doraemon and snoopy. I've loved to watch Japanese cartoons since I was a child; I like to listen to cartoon music, and draw characters I like. I've even learned some words pronunciation by listening to cartoon music! Japanese cartoons are recollection of my childhood. Therefore, for me, Japan is a kingdom of cartoons and comics!! Does Taiwan or any city in Taiwan leave you any memory? And have you been to Taiwan before? Finally, for the coming Christmas, I wish you a Merry christmas. :) Sincerely, Selena Chen |

I love travelling though I have only been to Canada, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Mainland China. Especially I've been Hong Kong for four timesbecause one of my relatives is living there. Well, what are you guys majoring in? And studying about? Hmm, besides travelling, I also love listening to music and seeing movies, which seems very regular habits, hu~ Today, I have just seen a movie, called Tomb Raider. I think some of you might know this movie, it's from games. When I was a senior high school student, I saw two movies a week in average. So, movie! It might be a very good subject to talk about if you like it as well! Moreover, I love cooking sometimes! Though I am not living in my hometown, I would do some cooks in my place in Taipei. By the way, I am from Hualien, the east coast in Taiwan, beautiful land! I don't know if anyone of you has been there, but if you are interested intravelling, we could talk about it!^^ Hope to hear from you soon. Your sincerely, Nicole |
