On Thursday 9th October the 2nd grade EIJO students had a great Skype call with their classmates who are currently studying abroad at Massey University in New Zealand. Pictured from left on the screen in the photo are Nao Ogawa, Mari Araki, and Hiroko Nagano. They were at Hiroko's homestay house and they gave us a tour of the house, and opened the fridge for us. All three seemed very happy overall, and none of them were homesick.
Nao said, "I have another international student at my homestay whose English is very good - a student from China. Talking with her has helped my English a lot."
Mari said, "My homestay mother is a hairdresser so she's been styling my hair every week. Next week I might dye it pink!"
Hiroko said her homestay family are a young couple who have a new one-month old baby who is very cute. Her bed is comfortable and her room quiet, so she sleeps well and can't hear the baby crying at night. We were impressed with how much more confident they were with their English after just five weeks.
